Toronto, CANADA – May 11, 2011 – Co-Producers Portfolio Entertainment and Collingwood O’Hare Productions are thrilled to announce Daytime Emmy Award nominations for “The Cat In The Hat Knows A Lot About That!”. Actor Martin Short has been nominated for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program and Composer David Schweitzer for Outstanding Original Song in the Children’s and Animation category.

Hamilton-born award winning comedian Martin Short began his career on Canada’s SCTV Comedy Network. His hilarious impressions landed him as a regular on Saturday Night Live and straight to the Hollywood screen with feature films such as Three Amigo’s, Tim Burton’s “Mars Attack” and Father of The Bride to name a few. Short has also written and produced for television and performed on Broadway. Most recently Short appeared on the highly acclaimed television series Damages.
Award winning composer David Schweitzer has scored over 100 film, television and theatre projects. This unique and inventive lyricist and songwriter is most knows for his work on titles such as Human, Jamie’s Chef, Mike the Knight and Charlie & Lola to name a few.
The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! has consistently been a top ranking show since its launch this past summer on Treehouse (Canada) and PBS KIDS (USA). The series has already been sold to over 60 countries worldwide, and has now launched internationally airing in Spain, Italy, Korea, Australia (Disney Playhouse), Israel (HOP!), Norway (NRK), and Finland (MTV OY) to name a few. The series also offers interstitials and an online gaming component accompaniment.
These prestigious nominations come after a recent win for writer Karen Moonah at the WGC Awards and a further nomination in the Animation Three to Five Years category from the Youth Media Alliance Award of Excellence committee.
