1) ENVIRONMENTAL LOCATION DESIGNER
Guru studio, the award winning and internationally renowned animation facility in Toronto is looking for a talented Environmental Location Designer to develop original environmental designs which will define the look of an upcoming preschool 3D television series for an international broadcaster.
Responsibilities:
– Work with Director and Production Designer to conceptualize 3D environments
– Visualize locations clearly so they can be interpreted by the modeling department
– Provide additional design support when needed
Qualities and Qualifications:
– You must be an outstanding environment artist with a strong sense of spacial design.
– Excellent drawing and painting skills and sense of colour.
– A strong sense of perspective and composition
– Experience with Photoshop – knowledge of other art/graphics software an asset
– Understanding of the basics of 3D animation
– Previous experience an asset.
– Works well under pressure

2) SENIOR 3D RIGGING TD
Guru studio, the award winning and internationally renowned animation facility in Toronto is looking for a Senior 3D Rigging TD to develop a master rigging system for all 3D characters, sets, and props on a new 3D preschool television series for an international broadcaster.
Responsibilities:
– Rig characters and props that support the show’s design aesthetic.
– Write and or use commercial tools that automate character production
– Design control mechanisms that are simple and intuitive for animators.
– Work collaboratively with design, layout and animation leads to meet the needs of the production
Qualities & Qualifications:
– In depth knowledge of Maya rigging
– Strong secondary abilities in modeling
– Functional knowledge of Maya shader networks and UV placement.
– An understanding of cartoon animation principles and how they apply to rigging.
– Ability to automate tasks with MEL or Python
– Ability to multitask and adhere to production deadlines
– You must have a strong grasp on the fundamentals of animation.
