Arc Productions, a Canadian based CG animation and visual effects facility located in downtown Toronto is looking for a Rendering Supervisor to join our team. With over 250 artists and technical directors and the most up to date resources available, we bring the vision to both major Hollywood studios and independent producers to life in a wide array of formats: theatrical features, television, DVDs, shorts and game cinematics.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Rendering Supervisor is responsible for interfacing with productions to assess and delivery required render resources. Manages a crew of up to 4 render wranglers and is responsible for new hire training and documentation. The Render Supervisor will need to monitor and maintain job queues, re-prioritization/bumping of jobs, re-sizing clusters, and check frames in accordance with priorities set by Production Management. This position works closely with other departments, such as Production Management, Engineering and Systems.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision
* Manage a crew of up to 4 render wranglers
* Collaborate with Production Management to determine staffing and scheduling needs
* Create work schedules with a 4 to 6 week outlook
* Notify staff members of work schedules
* Responsible for the ongoing training and documentation of render procedures
Render Management
* Manage and monitor render queue supervisor and all job queues
* Re-prioritize/bumping of jobs, re-sizing clusters, and check frames in accordance with priorities
* Interface with production to assess render resource requirements
* Understand Arc’s production rendering pipeline model to help forecast resource allocations
* Produce various weekly/monthly usage reports and forecasts for productions
* Presents w/analysis in weekly render meetings with productions
* Communicates resource issues to show and senior management teams
* Assumes management of current reports and projections
* Assumes management and continued improvement of automation prioritization scripts
Data Management
* Work closely with productions to assist in monitoring and reporting of storage usage
* Work closely with productions to help facilitate archival/deletion of completed projects
* Collaborates with Systems to execute data management tasks as per show needs
Required Skills and Experience
* Completed post-secondary education in CG Animation, Comp-Sci or equivalent job experience
* Familiar with digital content creation software (Maya, Mentalray, Fusion, Nuke)
* Familiar with render supervisor software (PipelineFX Qube)
* Familiar with bash, tcsh, and python scripting (preferred)
* Experience with digital content creation industry essential
* Strong ability to prioritize tasks and time-management skills
* Ability to lead and train members of a team
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills
