Vacancy Type: Full-time reclassified, support staff, replacement position (Full-time support staff will be given first consideration)
We require a qualified individual to join the School of Media and Design Tech team, primarily supporting the animation and gaming cluster of programs, and assisting with other media and design programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrate software, equipment and facility use and oversee practical tests
- Demonstrate and reinforce theory/concepts previously taught by faculty
- Provide technical assistance to students, in-class and outside of class hours, as required
- Work with faculty and other technologists to create supporting materials for programs, including audio and video components
- Ensure technology and equipment across media and design studios, loans office, and labs are properly maintained and logged, repair as necessary, carry out updates and inventories as required
- Assist with implementing changes to design, layout, and functionality of School facilities to meet program requirements
- Support faculty and students with the pull, organization, and sign-out of equipment for production and teaching needs
- Assist in delivering and set-up of equipment to classrooms and studios, as needed
- Participate in production projects undertaken by the School of Media + Design for the college
- Attend technologist team, School and program meetings as needed and participate in problem-solving and the development of processes
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three year diploma/degree in animation, game design, broadcasting, or new media technologies
- More than five years of relevant practical experience, to include experience in the animation field, advanced working knowledge of audio/video recording and post production
- Advanced skills in Adobe CS (PC/Mac) and Dragonframe
- Knowledge of Unity, Blender, Maya, Houdini, fabrication of wireframe claymation figures, DSLR cameras, ProTools or Avid Media Composer
- Planning, organizational, problem-solving and presentation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Assertive, self-motivated and creative
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to organize and maintain electronic database of technologies
- Strong time and project management skills
