2D Assistant Editor
Guru Studio’s dedicated team is passionate about bringing inspired character-driven stories to screens around the world.
Our award winning, and internationally renowned Toronto animated entertainment company, is looking for an Assistant Editor who is responsible for assembling and editing media and assisting the editors on a 2D animated series. This role reports directly to the Editor.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of 2D animation concepts and workflows
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and Photoshop
- Good instinct for visual storytelling
- Organized with the ability to juggle multiple tasks
- Strong communication and timeline skills
- Takes direction well
- Ability to work independently
- Work in Google Docs
Responsibilities
- Assist in setting up new projects as per established formats
- Update and maintain reuse projects and resource libraries, organize directories and files adhering to established protocols
- Produce leica assemblies for the editor including the following standard elements:
- dialogue assembly as per editor specs
- walla, sound effects and music where appropriate
- a first pass at any action timing
- vaulted (reuse/reference) sequences in place, as well as necessary reuse catchphrases
- Cut in storyboard revision panels and carry out editorial notes with accuracy, communicate the storyboard team and editor in the event of incomplete or inaccurate panel revisions
- Ensure revision sequences include all standard elements (dialogue, walla, action timing, sound effects and music where appropriate)
- Cut in cast records while maintaining the integrity of the edit, communicate with production and editor in the event of missing selects or other record issues
- Insert shot markers into editorial sequences as needed
- Support for delivery to client and post-production including but not limited to: creating quicktimes, AAFs
- Additional Specific duties to be determined on a project by project basis
