The Render Wrangler administers render job queues, checks and validates outputs of completed jobs, and reports any issues or failed jobs to the original submitter. This role troubleshoots issues regarding inconsistent or failed render nodes, reports critical issues as necessary and ensures the continuous running of the render farm.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Monitor, manage and keep render farm running at maximum capacity
- Manage and troubleshoot rendered shots from Nuke and proprietary software for dailies, deliveries and rounds
- Maintain rendering priorities, based on production schedules, and escalate resource allocation problems to the I/O Supervisor
- Assist artists with render job submissions and errors and report problems back to Leads and Production teams
- Monitor render farm resources and escalate capacity problems to I/O Supervisor and Technology Supervisor
- Write scripts to streamline the workflow
Qualifications:
- Preferred degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, or other related field
- Working knowledge of Nuke and Mocha required
- Basic Linux and Windows experience
- Scripting experience required (Python, Bash, Batch)
- Working knowledge of Qube! or other Render Farm software
- Excellent problem solving ability
- Adaptability in challenging situations
- Flexible schedule required- ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary
Working conditions- the Render Wrangler must be able to work within the following environment and conditions:
- Remain seated for the majority (up to 90{f2e86ea6af82e2bb048871abf045622abf0ed27fb513932dc1ee8c05a54cbefd}) of a shift
- Use hands/fingers to operate a computer and other office machinery
- Lift, carry, and transport up to 15 pounds
