jobby: 2D BG Designers, Wildbrain Studios, Vancouver

WildBrain is looking for 2D Background Designers to join our Vancouver studio. We’re on a mission to find our next BG design superstars for an undisclosed Peanuts project! We’re looking for portfolios that demonstrate versatility, passion and a strong understanding of 2D animation for this extremely high quality and epic new production!

We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen. We’d love to hear from you! #stayhomestaysafe!

Responsibilities

– Work closely with the Art Director to understand show concepts and style
– Create locations and environments using Photoshop
– Produce designs that show a strong understanding of perspective, proportion, composition and staging
– Review storyboards to ensure continuity of background designs and to maintain consistency with the style and quality of the show
– Ensure key location designs are suitable in function and form to facilitate the staging, pathways and action required by the script
– Collaborate with other designers and departments to ensure smooth deliveries throughout the production pipeline
– Perform other design-related tasks and responsibilities as requested

Qualifications:
– You have the ability to take direction, be flexible, and work collaboratively within a team environment
– You’re able to professionally and productively discuss, make decisions, and communicate ideas in a wide variety of aesthetic areas
– You are accountable, self-motivated and possess strong time management skills required for a fast-paced environment
– You have excellent attention to detail

Bonus:
– 2+ years’ experience designing environments for 2D animation
– Proficiency in Photoshop/2D design software
– Comprehension and knowledge of the 2D animation pipeline
– Strong understanding of perspective and composition demonstrated in your portfolio
– Proficiency in the style of the show demonstrated in your portfolio
– Excellent attention to detail
– Thorough understanding of 2D animation and how your designs will be used throughout the production pipeline
– Degree/Diploma from a recognized animation school
