Apartment 11 Productions is seeking a Development Executive to increase production in both the Kids and Adult Programming genres.
The Development Executive for Apartment 11 Productions will be responsible for cultivating existing projects and for in-house development, while also seeking out and evaluating pitches and properties for development and production. He/she will build and maintain relationships with broadcasters, agents, writers, directors and producers while keeping an awareness of industry news and trends. He/she will ideally be familiar with both public and private funding rules and deadlines, and will follow through with the development process until production financing is complete. Strong writing skills are a plus as he/she will be involved in show creation, bibles and scripts.
Responsibilities:
• Developing and maintaining relationships with all major Canadian broadcasters as well as some international broadcasters
• Initiating and maintaining relationships with key creative personnel, including writers and directors
• Working with writers and/or producing partners to create and develop series
• Overseeing the creation of development budgets and schedules
• Acting as point-person with network executives to ensure adherence to development schedules
• Ensuring internal and external communications run smoothly and in a timely manner
Qualifications:
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in the Canadian television industry
• Kids experience a plus
• A-level relationships with Canadian broadcasters
• Relationships with U.S. and international broadcasters a plus
• Strong writing skills
• Production experience a plus
• Strong analytical, creative, problem-solving, and communication skills
