Get the Ontario provincial government on the phone. I’ll talk to them and put this issue to rest, once and for all.

But seriously… can someone please explain this to me? Why exactly are provincial governments putting this kind of restriction on hiring? Is this a general rule, as in, “We just don’t like new arrivals taking jobs here?” Or is it something specific to do with grants, tax incentives, what? I would really like to know. Then, depending on their reasons, they should allow for exceptions, if and when it’s warranted.

It’s a tax incentive thing. It sucks but it also keeps a lot of business in TO and Ontario in general. Besides there are plenty of really good animators here and not enough work already… 😉
