JOB TITLE: Project Manager, Technology Group
DEPARTMENT: Technology
REPORTS TO: Head of Technology
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Project Manager, Technology group, manages the successful delivery of Technology group projects. This role is required to generate project status reports and detailed analyses and to communicate the progress of projects to key stakeholders. The Project Manager coordinates and collaborates closely with technical leads and project teams to create project and user documentation, prepares staffing and headcount reports, and arranges and provides input at Technology group meetings.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
– Manage the successful delivery of Technology group projects
– Effectively manage resources, scheduling, and deliverables through the entire project life cycle (discovery, analysis, design, construction, test and implementation)
– Maintain and update project schedules and milestones using FastTrack Schedule (or equivalent) and proprietary software packages
– Provide direction to team members, monitor development activities, and assemble and track deliverables
– Ensure that issues are escalated and flagged immediately with the Head of Technology and Technology Supervisors
– Coordinate and collaborate closely with key stakeholders to define specification requirements, set priority and agree on delivery schedules
– Generate project status reports and detailed analyses as required, and communicate progress of projects to key stakeholders
– Coordinate and collaborate closely with technical leads and project teams to create project and user documentation
– Prepare regular staffing and headcount reports to assist Head of Technology and Technology Supervisors in future staffing requirements
– Arrange and provide input at Technology group meetings
– Prepare meeting materials including agendas, handouts, or reports as required
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
– 1-2 years in a support role in a Software or Technology environment OR 3+ years in a junior project management role or project coordination position, OR equivalent work experience in another industry
– Completed post-secondary education in relevant area of study
– Strong knowledge of Excel with experience using FastTrack Schedule (or equivalent)
– Strong understanding of the project management process
– Demonstrated ability to draft, review and evaluate project management and user documents
– Strong analytical and organizational skills
– Solid teamwork, communication and relationship management skills
– Proven willingness to work in collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
– Self-motivated, decisive, and results-oriented
– Flexibility to accommodate rapid change and to deliver under accelerated timeframes
– Prior experience in the animation industry or a software development environment would be an asset
JOB TITLE: Supervising Editor
DEPARTMENT: Editorial
REPORTS TO: Head of Editorial
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Supervising Editor works with the Editor to make important editorial-related decisions, directs the assembly and fine tuning of component parts of the film, and ensures a consistent look and sound to the film. This role oversees the incorporation of changes resulting from screenings, considers and determines the balance and trade-offs of the film’s final quality with schedule, costs, and techniques, oversees the correct presentation of editorial-related materials, and assists in ensuring that the approved cut of the film is completed on schedule and on budget. The Supervising Editor also leads and assigned team in ensuring that all editorial assignments are completed fully and on schedule.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
: Work with Editor to make decisions regarding pacing, acting, dialogue, sound effects and graphics that determine the quality and delivery of the final animated feature film
: Direct the assembly and fine tuning of component parts of the film including conveying a story with the rhythm and pacing that reflect and enhance the Director’s vision
: Ensure a consistent look and sound to the film
: Oversee the incorporation of changes resulting from screenings
: Consider and determine the balance and trade-offs of the film’s final quality with schedule, costs, and techniques
: Oversee correct presentation of editorial-related materials related to the film including story reels, work prints, previews and tape outputs
: Oversee the continuity of scenes, reel breaks and changeovers
: Monitor quality standards and output of third parties such as audio and post houses
: Ensure that the approved cut of the film is completed on schedule and on budget
: Lead assigned team in ensuring that all editorial assignments are completed fully and on schedule
: Assist in assigning work to team members based on individual specialties, and oversee individual progress and performance
: Give support to team members by providing direction and assisting with technical difficulties
: Assist Department Head by providing feedback for the annual performance review process and in resolving performance related issues
: Provide regular team progress updates for Assistant Production Manager
: Facilitate meetings with team members to keep them informed on show changes and requirements
: Perform additional editing-related tasks as required
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
: 10+ years CG editing and post-production experience, with experience in a supervisory role
: Completed post-secondary education in relevant area of study
: Feature film experience required
: Experience using Avid Media Composer or comparable editing software and working knowledge of the Avid Unity shared storage system
: Strong leadership skills
: Superior organizational skills
: Strong attention for detail with the ability to remain focused for long periods of time
: Superior creative and technical problem solving skills
: Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholder
: Demonstrated ability to work productively and willingness to take initiative in a team environment
: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet tight deadlines, and perform to standard in a fast-paced environment
: High level of independence and a strong sense of reliability
: Strong technical proficiency with the ability to adapt to new and changing procedures and duties
