Sydney Opera House presents: Final Call for Submissions GRAPHIC Animation Competition

Entries Close Sunday 28 October, midnight AEST

Sydney Opera House today announced a final call for submissions into the third annual GRAPHIC animation competition, with entries due to close on Sunday 28 October, midnight AEST. Held as part of the GRAPHIC festival’s weekend of storytelling, animation and music – the animation competition is open to illustrators, animators and storytellers from all corners of the globe.

Competition entrants are required to create an original short animated film with a running time of no longer than three minutes, uploading it to the dedicated GRAPHIC festival YouTube Channel [http://www.youtube.com/user/SOHCompetitions], where the public can vote for their favourite film. The twenty animations with the most votes will then be submitted to a panel of industry experts for judging.

The winner of Best Animated Short will spend a weekend at GRAPHIC festival at Sydney Opera House, have their animation screened at the GRAPHIC opening night event and win $10 000 [AUD]. The winners of Best Animation Craft and ANIMAL LOGIC People’s Choice award will both be awarded a $5000 [AUD] prize.

Judges for the GRAPHIC animation competition include Animation Director, Marco Marenghi (Walking with Dinosaurs 3D [2013]); Director, Chris McKay (Robot Chicken TV series, Co-director LEGO: The Piece of Resistance [2014]), Animation Director, Daniel Jeannette (Happy Feet, Where the Wild Things Are) and GRAPHIC co-curator, Jordan Verzar.
